VAT Information

Certain countries treat the location of the sale of digital services as the location of the consumer (as opposed to the location of the service provider). Some of these countries require that digital services sold to private customers be registered for VAT in that country and have no minimum threshold of sales where VAT registration for the service provider is required. In the future Downtime Monkey may register for VAT in many countries but at present the administrative burden makes this impossible.

However in many of these countries, sales of digital services from overseas companies to VAT registered businesses are allowed - the VAT is zero rated and VAT is recorded via a reverse charge mechanism.

Therefore to comply with regulation in these countries Downtime Monkey can only make sales to VAT registered businesses or companies.

If you are based in one of the countries listed and are a VAT registered business then we will not charge VAT on your transaction. We will collect your VAT number before the order is completed and your VAT number and the zero rate, reverse charge information will be present on the invoice for the order.
